"For someone who has played guitar for almost 35 years, to
finally make some musical sense out of the instrument is, well,
gratifying." -Wayne C.
If you live around Austin and are interested in taking some lessons, send me an email telling me about yourself and what you would like to work on and get out of the lessons. I teach improvisation from the ground up, from understanding the many musical forms and structures to the personal process of creating music. Aspects of performance such as technique, phrasing, posture, breathing and awareness are often a large and important part of the hour spent together. I also enjoy working with students on folk, funk, blues and rock styles, along with just learning songs and playing them!
Lessons are $30/hr or $20/half hour.
"I really enjoy the focus Chris places not just on scales, chords and
theory but on actually putting them to use in real songs. He has
helped me improve my physical technique tremendously, as well as
helped me open my ears and be more conscious of my expressiveness
while playing." - Matt B.
